Our current solution repertoire is a reflection of our focus on enterprise and government-class requirements. We have been key players in the GIS field for over ten years, with a fascinating variety of GIS-based systems designed, developed, piloted, and deployed in the Middle East and Latin America. In Egypt, we have worked with the Ministry for Water Resources and Irrigation to build a Decision Support System for water demand modeling based entirely on open source components. In Latin America, some of the more interesting projects we have worked on include GPS-enabled GIS tracking systems for sea vessel monitoring, GIS systems for the Peruvian Ministry of Education for optimisation of distribution of educational resources, and a system for determining prioritization of telephony deployments in rural areas based on a very complex array of variables including proximity to served areas, road network, markets, points of interest (touristic, archeological, etc.) and other elements.

We regard the current lack of convergence between computing and telephony as an opportunity to present genuine value and have realized this ambition in the form of EvolvE, a high performance computing-based PBX representing the next generation of scalable omni-purpose communication gateways. In recognition of the unique challenge of resource management at larger scales, EmergE has been developed as a next-generation ERP/CRM solution. Based like all our development on an open core, EmergE is ultra-extensible and will scale comfortably beyond any commercial expansion.

THE REVOLUTION, THE IMPACT

Application of information technology is widely acknowledged for its potential in gains to productivity, profitability, and comunication. The last decade has witnessed a simply astounding pace of technological advance, and much of this pace is attributed to the environment-neutrality of information technology development. Furthermore and as a direct consequence of the open source trend, barriers to technological access have effectively been removed and the range of deployable and accessible technology is overwhelming.

The information revolution is bountiful, but it creates new classes of challenges. It is in the face of this new breed of questions that IT Synergy was established.

A major component of our raison d'etre involves technological forecasting on the regional and sub-regional level. We understand the environment we operate in, and we can assess technologies for suitability and adaptability. This involves a profound understanding of the technology as well as the environment, and it involves also the capability to extend technologies to blend in.

THE PARTNER

In the mid-1990's, the United nations Development Program was involved in providing technological solutions for state modernization in several Latin American companies. After the project completion, this initiative resulted in the formation of IT Synergy, a company dedicated to technology research and technology-to-market matching. Our core business revolves around the concept of partnership; we are active participants in the business of open source, and we firmly believe in the marriage of the enterprise and the FOSS paradigm. We have unique insight into both worlds and our vision is, as our company name, SYNERGY.

OUR BACKGROUND

IT Synergy currently operates out of the Smart Village in Cairo, Egypt. We are a registered Egyptian company under investment law number 8; we are proud to be based in the very markets to which we cater. IT Synergy S.A. was incorporated in Peru in 1999, then in the United States in 2001 and, more recently, as an Egyptian company in 2004. Since 2005 all our operations are managed from our Cairo HQs.

IT Synergy has provided consulting services in the field of ICT for development to governments, private companies and international organizations in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. In Egypt we have worked on several projects with the International Organization for Migration, with the United Nations Development Programme and with the Italian Cooperation. IT Synergy has provided strategic consultancy and project formulation and implementation for several Egyptian ministries as well as conducting numerous FOSS implementations at the public and private sector level.

Outside Egypt, the IT Synergy team of experts has developed and implemented a number of unique solutions such as the PaperChip-SecurCode, a security solution for printed document based on Digital Certificate technology, or IT-Sentinel, a sophisticated package for remote network monitoring and administration and many other based in the open source concept. It has also implemented a regional Voice Over IP network for the United Nations Development Programme.
